Description
In 1985 I was introduced to a folio of illustrations at a print gallery in London.
These 5 prints were part of a very large collection. It was described to me that illustrations of exotic costumes was introduced in the 16th century and continued on in Europe for centuries to become part of the Orientalist movement. Much of the artwork created describing lands people and their costumes east and south of the Mediterranean were imagined as influenced by the few who travelled to these areas. These prints make a wonderful decorative wall display when hung together.
