Description
in approx 1948 my dad visited Marshall Fields in Chicago , bought this modern hand made object. It has spent 75 years carefully mounted on a shelf in the library , occasionally dusted. Horse is considered iconic of mid- century modern post war folk art.
The body of the horse appears to be low fired clay then high fired turquoise glaze applied to mane, tale snout, hoofs and eyes. Horse is showing teeth as a smile . It is in as new condition
