Jade Carving- Mystery Form of a Sphere Rotating within a Jade Spindle

Asian Light Colored Jade Carving Holding a Carved Jade Sphere on a short Spindle. It isn't clear if this had been part of a larger object at one time as the bottom Is slightly unfinished.
It is beautiful and has been a table top accessory for some years…..
Maybe someone will inform us of the significance of this beautiful and mysterious object .
size: 8" h. x 4" wide , ball is 2.5 " dia.
Condition: Not chipped or broken, fairly heavy for its size
