this glaze is unique as pieces are fired in high temperature kilns where the oxygen is completely removed.
Copper oxide gives the glaze that deep red color. It is called sang de bluff in French and it is a process first attributed to the Chinese. the areas that are not oxblood are areas where the oxygen has not been completely removed.
